On this page, I've put together all of Tolkien's drawings and sketches of the Hill and its surroundings, accompanied by Fonstad's and Strachey's maps. Tolkien's sketches and illustrations all belong to the The Hobbit and were completed by 1938 at the latest. They may therefore not reflect the way his perceptions developed during the writing of LOTR. Click on the thumbnails to see the larger versions.
